Comments for the Week of May 15-19
  • Biggest winners this week:
    • Danielle Byers-Anderson ($73,749) (May 18) - Danielle is the seventh biggest winner this season and the eighth contestant to win more than $70,000.
    • Christian Perry ($65,785) (May 17)
    • Summer Charles ($62,956) (May 15)
  • Record of games normally played for a car this week: 2-7 (Lucky $even and Pass the Buck were won)
Record of non-car games played for a car this week: 7-1 (Balance Game was the only loss)
  • This was the first time Lucky $even was not played for a luxury car during Dream Car Week. Conversely, this was the first time Range Game, Pathfinder, Pocket ¢hange and Pass the Buck were the "Dream Car" games.
  • The $178,309 won on Monday's episode is the third highest total of the season, behind two Big Money Week episodes.
  • Four car games were also won on Monday's episode, which is almost certainly a record. In fact, prior to this episode, the previous time more than two car games were won on the same episode was October 17, 2007 (Safe Crackers, Dice Game and Cover Up).
  • Range Game was won even though the price of the Porsche was placed $345 from the bottom of the range. That's the third highest placement in a win in the past four seasons. Only the wins on the May 31, 2015 episode ($370 from the bottom) and the October 9, 2014 episode ($365 from the bottom) was higher.
  • Gas Money was played fourth for the first time since April 16, 2014. It was only the fourth time ever this game has been played in that slot.
  • In all six Gas Money losses so far this season, the contestant wound up picking the pink slip on either their first or their second pick.
  • On Tuesday, 15 cents was spun in a bonus spin for the first time this season. Every amount has now been landed on at least once, with 75 cents (11 times) being the most frequent occurrence.
  • As you would expect, since Season 32, Lucky $even has a record of 36-4 when contestants get at least two numbers exactly right. The only losses during this time span occurred on June 26, 2014, May 27, 2011, May 28, 2010 and June 25, 2009.
  • So far this season, Lucky $even has not been lost more than three times in a row. Not bad, considering the game has gone on a losing streak of at least seven games every year since Season 36.
  • Balance Game has now been lost 10 straight times when played for a car. Overall, the game has an all-time record of 2-14 when played for a car. The only wins occurred on June 22, 2009 and January 11, 2013.
  • On Wednesday, Christian became the 20th contestant this season to win more than one car. That is already the most multiple car winners since at least Season 39.
  • Christian also became the 15th contestant this season to win a Showcase Showdown by default. (The first two spinners went over.) That is the second highest total since Season 29, behind only last season's 21 default winners.
  • Highest score this season for a contestant spinning third that won by default: $1.00 (December 13). Lowest score: 10 cents (May 12).
  • With this week's win, Bonus Game has now been won 10 straight times, with the last loss occurring over a year ago on January 19, 2016. This is the game's longest winning streak since at least Season 29.
  • Bonus Game's 7-0 record has also matched Double Prices for the most wins by a Pricing Game to start this season before being lost.
  • No prizes were won in Race Game for the first time since May 20, 2014. In other words, this week's loss ended a streak of 29 straight playings where at least one prize was won.
  • With this week's loss, Pocket's ¢hange's record has dropped to 2-8. The 20% win rate is currently the lowest in the game's history. (The current low is a 3-7 record in Season 37.) Part of the problem is that the median pocket change accumulated by contestants this season is 73 cents, which is the lowest in the game's history. (The current low is 80 cents in Season 38.) The median car price is also $1.38 this season, which is the highest in the game's history. (The current high is $1.25 from multiple seasons.)
  • For the first time this season, Money Game was lost even though the first two numbers were found on the first pick. The game was 9-0 before this loss. (Money Game is 5-7 this season when it took more than one try to find the first two numbers.)
  • $272 was also the most money won in Money Game since June 9 of last season ($317).
  • There were two perfect guesses in Cliff Hangers for the first time since June 22 of last season. Overall, this was the 12th time since Season 32 where a playing had two perfect guesses. All 12 of these playings were won, with the lowest finishing climb being 1 step (April 28, 2009) and the highest climb being 12 steps (December 26, 2012 and March 5, 2013).
  • Friday's episode featured the 51st time this season where a contestant bid $1 higher than a previous $1 up bid. (ie: 1250-1251-1252). That ties last season for the most occurrences since Season 39.
  • This season, contestants $1 upping a previous $1 upped bid went on to win the one bid round 58.8% of the time. That is significantly less than the 70.8% success rate from the previous four seasons.
  • The top prize was won in Punch a Bunch for the first time since June 19, 2014. The win snapped a streak of 48 straight playings where the top prize was not won.
  • This was the fifth time since Season 30 where the top right corner was revealed to contain a slip with the top prize in Punch a Bunch. (Other occurrences: October 17, 2002 (not won), December 23, 2003, June 8, 2004 and June 11, 2007). Hole #10 has been revealed to contain the top prize most often during this span - no other hole has been revealed to contain the top prize more than three times.
  • Clock Game was lost on the first prize for the first time since March 26, 2015. This was only the second complete loss in the past five years.
  • The most expensive prize in Most Expen$ive has been prize #1 in the past four playings and in 8 out of the past 10 playings. It's a somewhat unusual trend, considering the most expensive prize has historically been evenly split between prizes #1, #2 and #3.
  • Prize #1 has been right in Most Expen$ive 60% of the time this season. That is the biggest disparity since Season 29. The current high during that span is Season 29, when prize #1 was right in 13 out of 21 playings.
