Comments for the Week of April 17-21
  • Biggest winner this week: Anthony & Kimberly Valenti ($77,062) (April 21) - the fifth biggest winners this season.
  • Freeze Frame was won for the first time since October 7, which snapped a 12 game losing streak for this game. That is tied for the longest losing streak for this game since Season 30. (There was also a 12 game losing streak in Season 39.)
  • Although Freeze Frame currently has a dismal record of 2-13, the game is not poised to have its worst season ever. That honor currently belongs to Season 39 - a record of 3-27 and a 10% win rate.
  • On Tuesday, Ty became only the second contestant this season to bid on a Showcase whose main prize was trip. This season, 2/26 (7.6%) contestants have bid on the first Showcases when it ended with a trip, compared to 44/361 (12.2%) between Seasons 38 and 44.
  • By comparison, the bid rate between Seasons 38-45 is 59.5% (420/706) when the first Showcase ends with a car and 10.6% (31/292) when the first Showcase ends with a boat.
  • Make Your Move was lost for the first time since October 14, which ended a five game winning streak for this game. That is tied for the longest winning streak for this game since Season 30. (There was also a 5 game winning streak in Season 34.)
  • Make Your Move has a current record of 5-2. That 71.4% win rate would be the best result for this game since Season 29. (The current high is a 6-4 record in Season 34.)
  • By being played first, Make Your Move became the 16th Pricing Game to be played in all six slots at least once this season. Make Your Move has only achieved this feat four other times: Season 20, Season 21, Season 28 and Season 37.
  • Card Game was won for the first time since February 28, which snapped a five game losing streak for this game. It was the second time this season where the game was lost five straight times.
  • Daniel became the fourth contestant this season to land on the dollar or a green section in a bonus spin. Between Seasons 29 and 44, the fewest bonus spin winners is 6 in Season 34 (4 green sections, 2 dollars). Unless we pick up the pace, we are in danger of matching or beating that record.
(The average during this span is 14 bonus spin winners per season.)
  • A car was not offered in either Showcase presented on Wednesday's episode. That last occurred on January 12 - 103 episodes ago. Overall, there have only been six episodes all season without at least one car Showcase. By comparison, there were 14 such episodes in all of Season 44.
  • Card #18 was revealed to be a "CAR" card in Spelling Bee for only the second time since Season 32. It also happened on November 20, 2013. (Card #18 has been selected 12 times since the start of Season 32.)
  • The $12,594 trip to the Grenadines was the most expensive prize offered in Balance Game (excluding cars) since it was played for a $15,495 sailboat on February 5, 2014.
  • Double Cross was lost for the first time since October 26, which ended a seven game winning streak for this game. That is tied for the longest winning streak in the game's history. (After losing its inaugural playing in Season 40, the game then strung off seven straight wins.)
  • With a current record of 9-2, it looks like Double Cross will have the best season in its brief history. The current high is a 17-6 record in Season 42.
  • On Thursday, Gwendolyn did not win her Showcase despite being $1,262 away from the actual retail price. That is the closest bid for a non-Showcase winner this season and the closest since December 23 of last season ($955).
  • For the first time this season, the price of the car in Pathfinder ended on the inside of the board. This has now happened ten times since Season 32, and the game was lost in all ten occurrences.
  • Pathfinder was also played in the first half for the first time this season. That leaves Master Key and Stack the Deck as the only games that have been played exclusively in the second half this season.
(Master Key was last played in the first half on June 17, 2015.)
(Golden Road, Pay the Rent, Shopping Spree, Temptation and Triple Play have been played exclusively in the first half this season.)
  • A television was not offered as a prize on Friday's episode - the first time this season that's happened. Prior to this episode, August 10, 2015 was the last time at least one television was not offered on an episode.
  • Four cars were also won on Friday's episode. Previous occurrence: December 21 of last season (Triple Play win).
  • 3 - 1 - 2 was the correct combination in Eazy az 1 2 3 for the first time since June 15, 2015. While it hasn't been right recently, since Season 32 it has actually been the second most frequently used combination. 2 - 1 - 3 is the combination correct most often (52 times) while 1 - 3 - 2 and 2 - 3 - 1 are the combinations correct the least often (15 times each).
  • One Away was won for the eighth time this season. With a current record of 8-7, One Away could finish a season above .500 for the first time since it went 13-5 in Season 36 and 18-7 in Season 33.
  • The six one bids on Friday's episode totalled $5,558 - the lowest total of the season. (By comparison, there were eight episodes last season that had a lower one bid total.)
  • Also on Friday, Anthony & Kimberly were only $8 away from the actual retail price of their Showcase. That is tied for the third closest Showcase bid since Season 29. (The closest bid is the December 16, 2008 perfect bid and a $5 miss on the June 27, 2003 episode.)
  • Combined, Anthony & Kimberly won two Showcases worth $76,302. That's the most expensive Showcases won in a Double Showcase win since January 6, 2012 ($51,118 and $30,939 = $82,057).
  • Car games that have not offered a car worth more than $20,000 this season:
    • Line em Up (Last time: October 27, 2010 - a $22,845 Hyundai Genesis)
    • Spelling Bee (Last time: August 19, 2016 - a $20,485 Jeep Renegade)
    • 10 Chances (Last time: January 12, 2015 - a $21,540 Dodge Journey)
